Components: "Infiniti Studio on Wheels" is the official name of this stereo system. It features Bose components and is an extra-cost option for the G35. It's included as part of larger options packages — most costing in excess of $3,000 — that offer many desirable features in addition to an upgraded stereo. The system consists of three speakers mounted in each front door including a 10-inch woofer, a 1-inch tweeter and a 3-inch mid/high-range speaker — another 3-inch speaker resides in the center of the dash as well. Each rear door has a 6.5-inch speaker and there's another 10-inch woofer in the rear package shelf. Total speaker count is 10. The upgraded system also includes a Bose digital amplifier mounted under the rear package shelf. Performance: Bose says the goal of this new Infiniti sound system is to deliver detailed, lifelike sound.
The Murdered revitalize Atlanta hardcore scene
The Murdered, a five-piece hardcore band from Atlanta, might be the youngest band appearing at the Tribunal Records showcase. They range in age from 19 to 22, and Flying Anvil booker Andrew Dudek is having a hell of a time sorting out the members who are of drinking age from the young 'uns.
The Murdered have done pretty well for themselves. Earlier this year, on June 6, they released their album And the Maggots Shall Inherit the Earth on Tribunal Records.
The band formed two years ago from the dissolution of several Atlanta-area metal and hardcore bands, said guitarist Ryan Shea. The band received its members from the groups Shut the Fuck Up and Listen, Style Over Substance and Starsfade.
"We just came up here for this show," Shea said. "We played one down in Atlanta last night."
The Murdered play textbook hardcore that borrows metal's imagery of crushing violence.
Gibson rocking as pricey American icon in guitar-loving Japan

An 'Idol'-ized songwriter
MELANIE CONNER/ Morgan Grace Practicing at home Move over, Kelly Clarkson: Oregonians have their own "American Idol." And ours actually writes music, plays instruments and sings. Late this summer, 29-year Portlander Morgan Grace won first place in the pop category of "American Idol Underground's" songwriting contest for "The Rules of Dating." The cash prize for her catchy pop tune? A cool $10,000. In her basement practice space, Grace recently spoke about the contest and performed the winning song. How did you hear about the contest? The contest sent a mailer to CD Baby (a Portland-based online music store) asking for independent artists, and I thought, "Oh, that might be cool," and then forgot all about it. A year later, I saw a link for it on MySpace and uploaded my song and forgot about it again.
